What is the NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service?
This free NHS service empowers community pharmacists to:

If you're looking to start the contraceptive pill for the first time, or restart it after a break, our pharmacist can assess your needs and, if appropriate, prescribe and supply your first course of treatment.

If you're already taking a combined oral contraceptive (COC) pill or a progestogen-only pill (POP), our pharmacist can review your needs and provide ongoing supplies.
How to Access Our NHS Contraception Service:
You can often walk into our pharmacy during opening hours. If you prefer, you can call ahead to check when a pharmacist is available for a consultation.

- Confidential Consultation: You'll be invited into our private consultation room. The pharmacist will ask you about your medical history, any current medications, and your contraception needs and preferences. They will also take your blood pressure if relevant for the chosen method.
- Receive Your Contraception: If appropriate, the pharmacist will supply you with your chosen contraception method and provide all the necessary information, including how to use it, what to do if you miss a dose, and potential side effects.
- Follow-Up: We may ask you to return for a follow-up check or advise you on when to contact your GP for further review.
